January 12, 2024 -- City Hall will be closed on Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Big Blue Bus (BBB) will operate on weekend hours and some parking meters won't be charging.

In addition to City Hall, the following facilities will be closed on Monday: The Transit Store, the Santa Monica Swim Center and Santa Monica Public Library.

Parking meters will not be enforced on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, except for meters that are enforced daily according to posted signage. Meters that are enforced daily must be paid.

However, preferential Parking (residential/visitor permits) will be enforced on Monday.

All City of Santa Monica beach lots and pay-by-space lots are enforced 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
There will be no refuse, recycling, or yard/green waste collection or street sweeping on Monday.

Street cleaning regularly scheduled for Monday will take place on Tuesday.

The following BBB lines will will not be in service on Monday:
Express 7, Rapids 3, 7 and 10, and Routes 5, 15, 16, 41, 42, 43, and 44 will not be in service. The Transit Store and Customer Service will be closed.

Santa Monica's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will take place at 9 a.m. in the SGI-USA World Peace Ikeda Auditorium, 525 Wilshire Boulevard ("'Stop the Hate' Theme of MLK Celebration Monday," January 10, 2024).
