June 20, 2023 -- A homeless man from out of state was arrested Tuesday morning after robbing a bank in Downtown Santa Monica, according to police.
The suspect walked into the Wells Fargo Bank at 120 Broadway at around 9:30 a.m. and used a demand note, said Lt. Erika Aklufi, the Police Departments spokesperson.

He robbed the bank of approximately $1,100, then fled the area on a bicycle, she said.
"A description of the suspect and direction of travel were broadcast to police officers and a short time later the suspect was located in the 2000 block of Ocean Front Walk," Aklufi said.
The suspect, Jordan Thomas Franzino, was positively identified by witnesses and arrested for robbery, she said. He was still in possession of the stolen money. |
Robbery incidents in Santa Monica have increased, from 39 during the first quarter last year to 47 this year, with 26 of the incidents resulting in an arrest, according to police data.
