March 18, 2021 -- Santa Monica police on Thursday announced they had located a 37-year-old woman who had been missing since she left her Ocean Avenue Apartment at dawn on Monday.
Sherelle Hatcher -- a Baltimore native in town for work -- was located on Thursday, two days after she was reported missing, said Lt. Rudy Flores.
"She is safe," Flores said. "Nothing happened to her."
Police announced Hatcher had been located about four hours after the Department issued a public information bulletin asking for help finding her.
The bulletin included her picture and a still image from a security camera showing her leaving her apartment on the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. Monday.
In the video image she is wearing a sleeveless gray t-shirt with the word "peace" in yellow letters, red biker shorts and gray sneakers.
Hatcher's family also shared a flyer on the internet that said she was last seen by her apartment staff walking towards the beach.
Flores declined to comment on where or how Hatcher was found.
But he noted that, as with other missing person reports, police viewed video from security cameras in the area and interviewed family members, friends and those who worked with her.
"You try to exhaust all leads," he said.
According to Hatcher's family, she was in Santa Monica for work.
"She attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and matriculated from Morgan State University," the family said.
"She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated."
