Santa Monica Red Cross Looking for Volunteers The American Red Cross of Santa Monica has a number of volunteer positions open for persons who live and work in the community and who are interested in donating their time for a great cause and a premier, internationally recognized, disaster relief organization. The chapter is urgently looking to staff a number of positions -- front desk and telephone receptionists, blood services, computer and web design, public relations, class instructors, fundraising, working in disaster preparedness and assisting the chapter's youth program -- one of the city's largest teen programs. According to Tom Viscount, acting Director of Volunteers for the chapter, "This is an excellent opportunity for persons of all ages, including senior citizens and retirees, to become involved with the community and the good work of the American Red Cross." Viscount says, "Working with the Red Cross is a rewarding experience. High school and college students can receive a valuable practical educational experience and learn how a business operates. Red Cross volunteerism looks great on resumes, too. It's also a great opportunity for seniors, retirees or adults with free time to contribute their expertise and experience to the community while preparing people for emergencies and even saving lives." Persons interested in volunteering should call Tom Viscount at 310-394-3773 Ext. 112 from 1 to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The Santa Monica Red Cross is located at 1450 11th Street (near Broadway), in Santa Monica and is a publicly supported, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides health and safety education, youth services, CPR and first aid training, disaster awareness and disaster relief efforts. |
