September 22, 2026 -- The fifth annual Volley-Ween – a Halloween-themed community celebration to benefit for local nonprofits -- will be held on October 28 and is currently seeking sponsors, tourism officials announced.

The festivities will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at Perry's Café and Beach Rentals at 2400 Ocean Front Walk.

The event – which features a beach volleyball tournament and costume contest -- brings together "players, local businesses, families, supporters, and visitors for a day of competition, entertainment, and giving back," organizers said.

"It’s a great opportunity to bring your team together for some friendly competition, connect with other volleyball enthusiasts, enjoy a beach BBQ, and give back to the Santa Monica community," Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) officials said.

"And, of course, the big question is: Who will take home the Volley-Ween crown this year?"

Teams of two, four and six at all skill levels are invited to compete in the tournament on the sands where the city’s first permanent beach volleyball nets were installed in the early 1920s, while the sport was still a new phenomenon.

Today Santa Monica is home to dozens of courts and beach volleyball clubs across the city, including those at Annenberg Community Beach House.

In addition to the tournament and costume contest prizes, the event offers entertainment, food and drinks and games. Registration is required to attend the event and participate in the tournament with an entry fee of $35 per person.

Santa Monicares, a coalition of representatives from SMTT and tourism community partners that raises money for local non-profits, is seeking sponsors at sponsorship levels ranging from $250 to $15,000.
