Promenade to Host Valentine's Day Festival

By Lookout Staff

February 10, 2026 -- The Third Street Promenade will be transformed Saturday as Downtown stages one of Santa Monica's largest free nightlife and music events to date in Southern California's first entertainment zone.

Presented in partnership with YAPPY STUDIOS, the multi-block celebration -- Santa Monica Block Fest Vol. III -- will span all three blocks of the popular walk street.

The festival, which kicks off at 5 p.m., features live DJs, custom stages, pop-up bars and immersive nightlife programming, "with seasonal Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day–inspired elements woven throughout the evening," Downtown officials said.

Santa Monica Block Fest Vol. III "reflects the continued evolution of the Promenade" under Santa Monica’s Entertainment Zone (EZSM), which allows visitors to buy alcoholic drinks on the Promenade and consume them on the street.

Event highlights include three dedicated stages hosted by LA-based music collectives, with Beat Repeat on the 1200 block, Product Pluto on the 1300 block and YAPPY STUDIOS on the 1400 block.

"Lounges, themed activations and a diverse lineup spanning house to vinyl sets offer multiple ways to experience the festival," Downtown santa Monica, Inc. announced Monday.

"The pop-up bars will keep the energy flowing throughout the Entertainment Zone," officials said.

Unanimously approved by the Council last May, the Entertainment Zone is designed to "support outdoor drinking, activate nightlife programming, boost foot traffic and drive economic activity for local businesses," Downtown officials said.

City and Downtown officials hope the Entertainment Zone will help the struggling Downtown recover from a high vacancy rate, the perception the area is unsafe and a seismic shift in shopping trends ("Council Approves Scaled Down Entertainment Zone," May 14, 2025).

The Council has approved several other ordinances over the past four years to encourage a more active nightlife and offer visitors unique experiences.
