2 Men Stabbed Near Miramar, One Dead

By Lookout Staff

February 17, 2025 -- A man was fatally stabbed and another wounded near the Miramar Hotel early Saturday morning, according to police.

The stabbing is the third homicide committed in Santa Monica this year.

Police responded at 1:50 a.m. to a report of a stabbing outside the luxury hotel's The Bungalow at 101 Wilshire Boulevard and found two male victims with stab wounds, according to police.

The Santa Monica Fire Department provided medical aid at the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital, said Lt. Lewis Gilmour, the Police Department spokesperson.

One victim, a 31 year-old male from Anaheim, sustained critical injuries and, "despite life-saving efforts, later succumbed to his injuries," Gilmour said.

The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and remains under medical care.

As of Monday morning no arrests had been announced in what police believe was "an isolated incident and not a random act of violence," Gilmour said.

"There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public," he said.

Detectives are "actively investigating and pursuing all available leads," Gilmour said.

"Investigators are reviewing video surveillance and gathering witness statements to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation."

Two other homicides have taken place this year, according to police. That compares to a total of five last year.

The first took place on January 15 when a homeless man was fatally shot in the back in a Downtown alley ("Homeless Man Shot in Year's First Homicide," January 15, 2025).

Last Monday, a homeless woman was found apparently beaten to death in a sleeping bag on Santa Monica Beach ("Homicide Victim Found on Beach," February 10, 2025).

Anyone with information related to this incident should email Detective Hilda Lucero at hilda.lucero@santamonica.gov or Sgt. Shaun Cooney at shaun.cooney@santamonica.gov or call the Watch Commander 24 hours at 310-458-8427.
