Travel Through Time on Sunday

By Lookout Staff

December 5, 2025 --With the speed things are changing, who knows what Santa Monica will be like in 15 years.

But residents of the future -- human or robotic -- can find out when they unseal a "digital living time capsule commemorating Santa Monica’s 150th anniversary" that will be created during a free public event Sunday.

Hosted by Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT), “Traveling Through Time: Celebrating 150 Years of Santa Monica,” will take place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Main Street Visitor Information Center at Edgemar, 2427 Main Street.

The event, held during the annual Miracle on Main Street, welcomes attendees to help meet the anniversary's goals "of celebrating history, honoring achievements, fostering connection and addressing inequities."

They can do so by "collecting and preserving community stories, photographs and memories for a digital time capsule that will be sealed and reopened in 15 years."

Attendees can "bring photographs, written stories, personal items and short video reflections that capture cherished memories across decades, cultures and neighborhoods," tourism officials said.

Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) is a non-profit organization designed to increase visitor expenditures, tourism revenues and local employment opportunities by promoting Santa Monica as a travel destination.
