Police Make Multiple Arrests for Parole Violations, Warrants

By Jorge Casuso

April 4, 2025 -- Nearly a dozen individuals with criminal records who are on parole or have existing warrants were arrested in Santa Monica during a one-week stretch this month.

Those arrested included a registered sex offender and individuals with prior arrests for robbery, burglary and possessing a loaded firearm, according the SMPD's weekly crime blog "The Blue Notebook."

The arrests were among the 55 made by Santa Monica police between March 16 and March 22, bringing the total number of arrests this year to 667, according to the latest update.

As of March 22, there had been 25,403 calls for service this year, 2,502 of those in the prior seven days. Of the calls that week, 376 involved the homeless, bringing the total to 5,721 for the year, or 23 percent of all calls.

The two suspects arrested for sex offenses during the seven day stretch both had criminal records.

One of the men, who was apprehended in a Downtown parking structure for brushing his hand against a woman’s buttocks, was found to be on parole for robbery, according to the blog.

The other -- who was accused of following women into Downtown businesses and assaulting one by "grabbing her buttocks -- was later determined to be "an out of compliance sex registrant and had a no bail warrant for a parole violation."

Another suspect was arrested that week after police observed him urinating in a Downtown alley during a periodic check and found he had a warrant for felony vandalism, according to the blog.

Another, who was stopped for a traffic violation, was found to have an outstanding warrant from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) for being in possession of a loaded firearm.

Both men were transported to LASD’s Inmate Reception Center, according to the report.

Another suspect was arrested by SMPD's Directed Action Response Team (DART) after he was contacted for a probation compliance check.

"The suspect ran from PD and struck an officer in the face," according to police. "A probation violation was obtained and the suspect was arrested."

In another case, officers stopped a pedestrian at 15th Street and Colorado Avenue and, finding he had a warrant for felony burglary out of Glendale, turned him over to Glendale PD.

Another pedestrian was stopped near Reed Park and found to have a "Stay Away Order" from the area. "The suspect was arrested and a search revealed him to be in possession of a drug paraphernalia," police said.

During the week, SMPD's Crime Impact Team (CIT) and Special Problems Unit (SPU), along with LA County Probation officers, conducted probation compliance checks on six residences.

An individual on probation for assault and weapons violations was found in possession of live rifle ammunition and charged with a felony for being a "prohibited person in possession of ammo."

A probationer for robbery who was out of compliance was arrested for violating his probation, while two probationers "were not at their residence and have not updated their information as required."

Their probation officers were contacted, and the violations were documented, according to police.
