March 8, 2023 -- Santa Monica police are trying to unravel the beating of a woman found in a crashed jeep in January who says she has no memory of what happened.
No witnesses of the January 10 crash have come forward and detectives have been unable to find public or private video footage that could shed light on what took place, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene of the reported crash at the intersection of 17th Street and Olympic Boulevard at around 11:40 p.m. they found a solo vehicle with a woman inside.
The white 4 door Jeep Wrangler "had jumped the curb and run into the wall on the northeast sidewalk of the intersection," said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman.
Sitting in the driver's seat was a woman "who had significant injuries to her face with blood on her hands, face, and body," Flores said.
The injuries, officers noted, "were not consistent with the accident," he said.
The victim told officers she "had trouble remembering several hours of the day, including how she sustained her injuries."
Based on the injuries, along with evidence in the car, CID detectives believe the victim was violently attacked while inside her Jeep, Flores said.
Detectives are seeking witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
