September 29, 2021 -- Police arrested two suspected prowlers in possession of methamphetamine who broke onto an Ocean Park property in the early hours Monday.

The incident took place at around 2:40 a.m. at a home in the 2300 block of 4th Street near Mary Hotchkiss Park, according to police.

The resident told dispatch that a man "broke into his side gate and approached the rear door while holding a knife," said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman.

"The resident yelled at the unknown male," who dropped the knife and was "seen fleeing the area with another male," Flores said.

Responding officers detained two men a short distance away who matched the descriptions provided by the resident, he said.

Officers identified the men as Taylor Kale Pacheco, 30, and Robert Sam Chandler, 32, of Los Angeles.

"Officers reviewed the security camera and were able to identify the subjects as being the suspects of the prowling," Flores said.

Police recovered the knife at the scene and bolt cutters that Chandler had in his possession, Flores said. Both suspects were in possession of methamphetamine.

They were taken into custody and charged with prowling and possession of drug, police said.

Chandler was also charged with possession of burglary tools, violation of probation and false impersonation

Anyone with more information concerning the incident or suspects should call the Criminal Investigation Division at 310-458-8951.
