March 15, 2021 -- Santa Monica police are searching for two suspects wanted for an attempted armed robbery and stabbing in Sunset Park Sunday afternoon.
Officers responding to a call for service near the 1300 Block of Grant Street at around 3:15 p.m. found one male and one female victim with "moderate injuries."
The woman was treated by Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her wounds, said SMPD spokesman Lt. Rudy Flores.
A follow-up investigation found that the two victims "were walking along the sidewalk when approached by two males attempting to snatch the female victim’s purse," Flores said.
The two suspects were described as Black men in their late teens or early 20s wearing facemasks, police said.
One suspect had "chin-length dreadlocks" and was last seen wearing a light green hooded sweatshirt.
The second was wearing a beige crewneck sweatshirt and "armed with a possible pocketknife," police said.
Their vehicle -- a black 4-door sedan -- was last seen fleeing northbound on Euclid Street from Grant Street "at a high rate of speed," Flores said.
Police are seeking help identifying the suspects wanted for the attempted armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon or for security video that may have captured the incident.
