April 18, 2019 -- On Monday, public transit passengers and motorists began heading to the City's new transit center in Downtown Santa Monica to purchase everything from bus passes to parking permits.

The new GoSaMo Center, which replaces the former Transit Store at the ground level of Parking Structure 5 at 1444 4th Street, "offers integrated transportation services for Big Blue Bus (BBB) and parking operations," City officials said.

The project also includes a new, larger public restroom.

The Big Blue Bus services are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and sell and load TAP cards with Stored Value or period passes for Regular, Youth, and Senior/Disabled/Medicare customers.

The offerings also include the sale of Big Blue Bus paper magnetic period passes for Regular, Youth, and Senior/Disabled/Medicare customers.

The BBB staff also assists customers with "travel planning, feedback an inquiries" and provides Little Blue Book Transit Guide, System Maps and other program brochures.

The staff also accepts and submits reduced-fare Senior TAP card applications on behalf of customers and redeems LIFE (LA County's Low Income Fare is Easy subsidy program coupons for low income individuals.

BBB staff also offers fare pre-payment servives and a lost and found claim area.

The center's parking operations services are offered Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on alternate Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Paking staff takes payments for residential parking permits, beach parking permits and parking citations and sells validations.

On Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., staff offers reduced employee parking validations for Downtown and Santa Monica Place Employees, reduced Farmer’s Market parking validations for vendors and employees and non-discounted parking validations upon request.

Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. parking staff creates new monthly Keycard accounts, processes monthly Keycard replacements and collects and processes Promise-To-Pay (PTP) Payments

PTPs are issued to customers who do not have a form of payment at all, cash or credit, upon exit

Staff also processes monthly payments on an as-needed basis.
