By Lookout Staff March 25, 2016 -- Last year, Pacific Park employed more than 500 workers at any given time throughout the year, making it one of Santa Monica’s largest employers, park officials said. The amusement park hires, trains and employs more than 750 individuals a year. “Spring and summer are now upon us and we are gearing up for a season of fun,” says Jeff Klocke, Vice President at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. “ Pacific Park encourages individuals to join the team to help make lifetime memories for our guests.” The park provides plenty of perks for employees that make it an ideal place for students to work, officials said. If working at an amusement park by the beach sounds like a good way to
make some money this spring and summer, Pacific Park on the Santa Monica
Pier may have the job for you. Employees can work around their school schedules and receive specialized on-the-job training that teaches "real-life skills," they said. New hires have the possibility of earning promotions and pay raises in just two months, while enjoying employee parties, movie tickets, free meals, park discounts, free ride wristbands and discounts on-one-of-a-kind stuffed animals. Potential employees can visit Pacific Park to submit an application in person or apply online at http://www.pacpark.com. Applicants must be 16 or older with a valid work permit, park officials said. Pacific Park is an equal opportunity employer. Pacific Park is celebrating its 20th birthday this year with a new logo, some fresh paint and new lighting for the Ferris wheel, among other improvements, officials said. A number of activities have been planned leading up to the park's birthday celebration May 26 ("Santa Monica Pacific Park Begins Celebration of 20th Birthday," January 27, 2016). More than 6.5 million people visit Pacific Park on the Pier each year, park officials said. Pacific Park offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games, an oceanfront food plaza and retail shops, as well the Pacific Wheel, the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel. Signature rides include The West Coaster, a steel roller coaster that races 55 feet above the Santa Monica Bay, and Inkie’s Air Lift Balloon Ride, the "high-flying, family-sharing kids’ ride," officials said.
