July 1, 2013 -- Waiting a turn at Santa Monica’s Annenberg Beach House pool should become more enjoyable this summer with a new notification service implemented by the City. Under the new service, those who provide their cell number will be notified when space is available at the pool, City officials said last week. “No more returning every hour -- just relax and enjoy the site until we contact you,” City officials said. “You're happy. We're happy.” Passes for the pool go on sale at 9:30 a.m. and the pool -- one of the few remaining elements from the historic Marion Davies Estate – is open until 6 p.m. every day except Monday, when it closes at 8 p.m. The pool is also open Tuesday evenings in summer from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. All members of a party must be present when purchasing pool passes, City officials said. Towels and locks are not provided. Reservations -- which must be paid with a credit card in full with no refunds -- can also be made no more than three days in advance beginning at 7:00 a.m. “Pool reservations must be redeemed by 11 a.m. on the day of your reservation,” officials said. “Guests arriving after 11 a.m. with pool reservations will be accommodated on a space-available basis.” The admission fee for adults is $10, $5 for seniors and $4 for those between 1 and 17 years of age. There is no charge for children under 1. Tuesday evening admission is $7 or $5 with the purchase of a same-day pool pass. Admission for seniors over 60 is $5. No refunds are issued. The pool is 4 feet to 8 feet deep, heated to between 80 and 85 degrees and chlorinated. Children under 8 years old and 4 feet tall must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult in the pool area, officials said. Children requiring use of a diaper must wear a swim diaper in the pool. The pool features “beautiful tiles that were restored by hand, and marble around the deck,” officials said. The pool and pool deck are complimented by a new Pool House, with changing areas, lockers, and a second floor View Deck that “offers spectacular views of Santa Monica Bay,” they said. |
