Santa Monica-Malibu School District Wants Help in Superintendent Search

January 28, 2011 -- The Santa Monica-Malibu School District is starting to look for a new superintendent. Tim Cuneo, the current district leader, will step down in June.

One of the first steps in SMMUSD's search will be gathering public input, a process that starts next week. Three schools will host public meetings:

On Tuesday, February 1, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Santa Monica at

  • Grant School Auditorium, 2368 Pearl Street, Santa Monica and
  • Lincoln Middle School Auditorium, 1501 California Avenue,

And on Wednesday, February 2 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Malibu High School library at 30215 Morning View Drive in Malibu.

Spanish language translation will be provided at the Grant School and Malibu High School meetings.

Peggy Lynch and Michael Escalante of Leadership Associates – the firm the Board of Education hired to help with its search – will be at the meetings to explain the search process and answer questions.
