|Santa Monica Police Join Facebook|
By Lookout Staff
January 7, 2011 -- The Santa Monica police wants us to like them, comment and share.
The department has joined Facebook in an effort to reach out to residents on the social network and let them know what's happening.
“The Santa Monica PD Facebook page will keep our community in the loop,” said Chief Timothy Jackman.
Local police departments throughout the country are signing on to the ever-increasingly popular website, according to police spokesman Jay Trisler.
“Social media attracts members of all ages from all corners of our community,” Trisler said.
From locating missing and wanted persons to announcing driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement to pitching special events, the department can now add Facebook to its policing toolkit.
Residents can make sure they get regular updates and bulletins by entering “Santa Monica Police Department” in the search bar.
Just press like, and once you're on the department's “wall” you can post all the comments you want.
