|Public Gets Chance to View New Santa Monica Parks|
By Lookout Staff
September 17, 2010 -- Concept design options for two new parks proposed for Santa Monica’s Civic Center will be on view Sunday beginning at 1 pm in the East Wing of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
The second in a series of four, Sunday’s workshop will include a presentation of findings from the first community workshop and survey during a joint meeting of the Recreation & Parks and Planning Commissions. James Corner and the design team will be on hand to gather feedback and ideas from participants.
The proposed parks -- to be located directly in front of and across the street from Santa Monica City Hall -- will provide a vital connection between the Civic Center area, the Santa Monica Pier and Palisades Park, City officials said.
A comprehensive report analyzing the survey results and community feedback gathered at the first workshop held in July will be posted on the project web page www.smciviccenterparks.com after the results are announced at the meeting.
The community workshop is accessible by foot, bike, bus and car. Bike and car parking will be available in the Civic Auditorium parking lot accessible from Main Street. Bus riders can arrive by BBB routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 or Rapid 3. To request a disability-related accommodation, please call 310-458-8310 at least three business days in advance of the workshop.
