College Paper Wins Awards | ||
By Lookout Staff May 5, 2010--The Corsair, Santa Monica College’s newspaper, was a recipient of 14 awards at last month’s state convention of the Journalism Association of Community Colleges in Los Angeles. Among the prizes were one for General Excellence and two first-place individual awards. The Corsair was one of only 13 community college newspapers in California to receive the prestigious General Excellence award. A first-place finish in broadcast news writing went to Ingrid Rosales, the current Corsair calendar editor. And Carlos Gutierrez, a Corsair staff photographer from the fall semester, earned a first-place award in the feature photo category. Rebecca Slawter, the Corsair news editor, earned second place in a news writing contest during the convention. Corsair staff photographer Alfredo Luna received a second-place prize in the news photo contest. |
