Free Ferris Wheel Ride for Moms | ||
By Lookout Staff
May 3, 2010 -Pacific Park will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday with free Ferris wheel rides for all the mothers who visit the Santa Monica Pier from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Those seeking the free ride only need to notify the operator at the entrance to the Pacific Wheel. “This is a very special day as families all across the country honor their moms,” said Jeff Klocke, director of marketing at Pacific Park. “And it’s very special for Pacific Park too because we have the chance to pay tribute to all Southern California moms with a free Ferris wheel ride. It’s also a great opportunity for family and friends to have fun at the beach, the Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Park.” |
The Pacific Wheel is the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel.
It features 160,000 energy-efficient LED lights that were placed on the
wheel in May 2008. The Pacific Wheel debuted in May 1996 with the opening
of Pacific Park and was adapted as the world’s first solar-powered
Ferris wheel in November 1998. |
