Free CPR Classes Available | ||
By Lookout Staff June 9, 2010 --The American Red Cross of Santa Monica will host its 12th annual Super CPR Saturday on June 26 at Ken Edwards Center. Free adult CPR and child CPR classes will be offered throughout the day. The training day is divided into two four-hour class sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Both classes consist of video, text, lecture and hands-on CPR training. After passing the course, an optional Red Cross certificate is available for a $10 processing fee. CPR and other emergency preparedness reference materials will be provided at no charge and there will also be books and emergency supplies available for purchase. |
This free event is designed to increase community emergency preparedness by training 200 people to be able to properly respond to choking, heart attacks and other emergencies. The event is made possible because of volunteer instructors and donations from the public. Classes are open to anyone in good health over the age of 12. Registration in advance is a must, and people are encouraged to do so as soon as possible as the classes are expected to fill up. At this time, space is limited for English language classe,s but more openings are available for Spanish language classes.
