City Offers Christmas Tree Recycling

By Lookout Staff

December 14, 2009 -- Starting the week after Christmas (January 6), those who want to take their trees down can take advantage of the City’s various recycling services through January.

Santa Monicans can drop off their trees at four City parks -- Clover, Douglas, Christine Reed and Los Amigos -- as well as at the City's Refuse and Recycling Transfer Station transfer station at 2401 Delaware Avenue.

Residents with curbside recycling are asked to cut their trees after removing the tinsel, ornaments and stands and place them in their yard waste collection containers.
Trees can be dropped off at the parks during the month of January.

The City's transfer station is open Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The station will be closed on New Year’s Day.

It is against the law to leave trees, which are a potential fire hazard, on curbs or in alleys, City officials said.

Following are the addresses of the parks where trees can be dropped off:

Clover Park
25th & Ocean Park Blvd.

Christine Emerson Reed Park
Lincoln & California

Douglas Park
Chelsea & Wilshire

Los Amigos Park
5th & Hollister
