Another
Elderly Victim in String of Westside Robberies |
By Lookout Staff
August 2 -- A man who may have committed several home-invasion
robberies against elderly victims on the Westside, including one
in Santa Monica, may have struck again this week.
This time the victim was a 96-year-old woman who lives on the 2500 block of
Westwood Boulevard, according to West Los Angeles police.
The suspect approached the victim from behind while she was outside her home
at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
He then forced the woman inside and ransacked her home, fleeing with the stolen
property.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for contusions and
released the same day, police said.
The suspect is described as between 25 and 40 years old who wears dark clothing,
dark colored gloves and a ski mask during the robberies. He is 6 feet tall and
weighs about 200 pounds.
The robbery comes two weeks after an elderly woman was robbed in her Sunset
Park home on July 18.
In that incident, the suspect made off with several possessions after entering
the home on the 2300 block of 22nd Street at around 3:30 a.m., police said.
According to West LA police, there have been nine home invasions,
two attempted burglaries and one burglary since late May. All the
victims have been elderly women.
All the incidents except the most recent took place in the early morning hours,
police said.
Police believe Tuesday’s robbery is connected to the others
on the Westside, including the one in Santa Monica.
