-- Two women were struck by a vehicle while crossing Wilshire
Boulevard in a marked crosswalk Saturday night, according
to police.
The victims, ages 77 and 81, were crossing on 25th Street
at 10:20 p.m., when they were struck by a 2007 Lexus traveling
eastbound on Wilshire, police said.
Both pedestrians were transported to a local hospital where
their condition is listed as serious and stable, said Lt.
Alex Padilla, the Police Department spokesman.
The driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old man, was not injured
and voluntarily submitted to a blood test, Padilla said.
The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate
the cause of the collision.
The incident is the latest in a series of accidents that have
taken place in Santa Monica crosswalks.
