February 23 -- Beth Feinstein, the mother of former mayor Michael Feinstein, passed away early Thursday morning of natural causes in an assisted living care facility in Santa Monica. She was 87.

Born in Chicago on February 16, 1920, Mrs. Feinstein was raised in Chicago and Skokie. She married her husband Sol Feinstein in 1954 and moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, where they raised their son.

Sol Feinstein passed away in July 1992 and Beth joined her son in Santa Monica in July 2000.

She was present with her son during his re-election campaign in the fall of 2000 and was there when he was appointed Mayor in December of that year.

Beth Feinstein was at her son's side at various ceremonial functions over the next two years. She lived at two different assisted living facilities in Santa Monica between 2000 and 2007.
