PALpalooza Tickets on Sale to Benefit Police Activities League By Lookout Staff June 22 – Advance tickets are now on sale for an evening of fun, food and friendship to benefit the Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) next Wednesday at Pacific Park on the pier. Tickets for the 2nd annual PALpalooza benefit range from $20 per person to $60 for a family of four. Each ticket includes admission on all Pacific Park rides, one free meal voucher, $6 in game bucks and the choice of a popcorn or cotton candy. To help offset operating costs, Pacific Park – which is celebrating its 10th anniversary -- will donate all food, games and rides for the event benefiting PAL, which provides free programs for more than 1,600 youths throughout the City. “Pacific Park considers it a distinct honor to be able to again host the Police Activities League and PAL kids for PALpalooza,” said Jeff Klocke, director of marketing at Pacific Park. “We are proud to have co-created this event with PAL to benefit the children of Santa Monica and the community in general. “The kids are extremely excited and really looking forward to a day of fun at Pacific Park,” said PAL Director Patty Loggins-Tazi. “They had a great time last year, and we were also able to raise much needed funding to further support the many recreational programs that are provided at the PAL Youth Center.” The goal of the PALpalooza event -- which is expected to draw more than 200 kids -- is to help PAL maintain or develop programs and projects, including cultural, educational and recreational type curriculums, which in turn will help the children in the Santa Monica area. “Of all the youth oriented organizations on the Westside, PAL has a well-rounded approach to balancing academic, athletic and personal growth needs of all the children who participate in their programs or are enrolled in the center,” Klocke said. Also participating in the festivities will be the Santa Monica Police Department, which will display a variety of vintage police cars, tactical patrol units and motorcycles. SWAT team members will be available for discussions, and canine and mounted units will be on hand. “Pacific Park is a great PAL partner and the Santa Monica Police Department is pleased to be able to provide department displays and interactive activities for PALpalooza guests,” said Lt. Frank Fabrega, press information officer with the Santa Monica Police Department. PAL provides a safe and nurturing environment that offers youth the opportunity to grow under the sustained guidance of dedicated adults and supports and encourages youth to reach their fullest potential, Fabrega said. “The funds raised from the benefit will assist in servicing valuable youth development programs that impact hundreds of Santa Monica kids on a daily basis,” Fabrega said. Tickets can be purchased by calling (310) 458-8988 or in person at the Santa Monica PAL Youth Center at 1401 Olympic Blvd. Pacific Park is located on the historical Santa Monica Pier and is LA’s
