Kidnapping Suspect Arrested

October 19 -- The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed attempted kidnapping charges Tuesday against a Santa Monica man after he allegedly tried to drag a young girl into his car.

Fredrick David Trotter, 63, on Friday grabbed the arm of a young girl and tried to pull her into his vehicle at a parking lot on Pico Boulevard and Stewart Street, according to police.

Two witnesses stopped the alleged attacker and the victim was able to escape uninjured.

The victim later identified Trotter as someone she and her mother knew, and police arrested him at his home early Saturday morning.

Trotter was booked at Santa Monica Jail with bail set at $1,000,000.

In addition to one count of attempted kidnapping, he faces one count of child annoying with a prior conviction.
