Police Search for Suspected Bank Robber

February 2 -- Police were on the lookout Wednesday morning for an armed man who attempted to rob the US bank on Santa Monica Boulevard and 22nd Street.

The suspect, who police said is armed with a handgun, fled on foot west bound on Santa Monica Boulevard at approximately 10:30 this morning.

"Officers are now conducting a search in the area,” said Police Spokesman Lt. Frank Fabrega. “Anyone with information should call 911."

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, around six feet tall with a medium build, police said.

He was wearing a yellow shirt and carrying a dark bag. It is not known whether he made off with any money.
