Homeless Man Arrested and Charged with Multiple Counts

November 13 -- A homeless man was arrested and charged last week in connection with several residential burglaries and robberies after a police bloodhound tracked him down at a local social service agency, police said.

The suspect -- identified as 39-year-old Danny Harris -- was arrested by police at 5:40 Wednesday morning outside the Clare Foundation on the 800 block of Pico Boulevard, where he resides, police said.

The 30-year-old foundation headquartered in Santa Monica serves those seeking recovery from alcoholism and substance abuse.

On Friday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s filed seven felony counts against Harris, charging him with one count of kidnapping for the purpose of robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal threats, according to police.

Harris’ arrest came after police, assisted by a bloodhound K-9, searched an area last Wednesday that had been hit with several residential burglaries and robberies, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman.

Police recovered a cap left behind by Davis, and the bloodhound tracked the scent to the CLARE Foundation, Fabrega said.

Police detectives conducted an investigation and identified the suspect, he said. Several victims and witnesses also identified the suspect during a photographic line-up.

An arrest warrant for Davis was obtained for the suspect, who was arrested outside his residence.
