Man Shot near Pier By Lookout Staff March 2 -- A man from the City of Bell Gardens was wounded near the Santa Monica pier early Sunday morning in what police believe may be a gang related shooting. The shooting occurred at around 4 a.m. on the 1600 block of Ocean Avenue, police said. The 26-year old victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for a wound to the abdomen. His injuries do not appear life threatening. A preliminary investigation suggests that this incident may be gang-related, police said. Police described the key suspect as a Hispanic man between 26 and 30-years old, 5' 5" in height and weighing 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing a thermal-type shirt with gray pants. There were between two and six other suspects, all of them Hispanic men and women, police said. No further descriptions were provided. The investigation is on going. |
