Driver Injures 2, Flees By Lookout Staff August 8 -- Two pedestrians are in critical condition after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night in the city's industrial corridor, police said. The driver was travelling eastbound on Olympic Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m., when he hit the victims, who were standing behind a legally parked vehicle on the 1800 block, police said. The driver fled the scene; the victims sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital, police said. The victims were a 28-year-old white male and a 26-year-old Asian male, both residents of San Gabriel. The suspect’s vehicle is described as being a possible Teal Green, 1990's Honda Accord or Civic 2-door, police said. A right-side mirror was recovered at the scene, and the vehicle is believed to have moderate-heavy damage to the right-front side, police said. The Santa Monica Police Department’s Major Accident Response Team is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Chris Dawson at 310.458.8954. |
