Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested By Lookout Staff April 17 -- Police arrested a suspect who held up a Santa Monica bank at gunpoint Thursday morning, then placed the rifle in a trashcan and walked away, police said. Calvin Tyrone Combs, 36, was identified by witnesses after he allegedly robbed the Wells Fargo Bank on the 2400 block of Wilshire Boulevard at around 10:30 a.m., taking an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Witnesses told police, who responded to an armed bank robbery in progress, that the suspect had placed a weapon in a trash can and continued to walk westbound on Wilshire, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. Officers checked the area
and saw a possible suspect in the 2100 block of Wilshire, Fabrega said.
The officers made a felony stop and detained the suspect, who was identified
in the field by witnesses. An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency in the suspect’s possession was recovered. The suspect’s rifle was recovered and booked into evidence. Anyone who may have information
