Man Stabbed on Pico

Dec. 22 -- A man is in stable condition after being stabbed numerous
times Saturday morning on Pico Boulevard, police said. A Los Angeles resident
was arrested not far from the scene.
The stabbing took place shortly before 8:30 a.m. near the corner of 12th
Street and Pico Boulevard, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department
spokesman.
Officers called to the scene found the victim, who had sustained numerous
stab wounds to the upper body, Fabrega said. The victim was transported
to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Officers spoke to a witness at the scene, and during the preliminary
investigation an officer stopped a possible suspect in the area of 17th
Street and Olympic Boulevard, Fabrega said.
The suspect -- identified as Jaime Vasquez, 24, of Los Angeles -- was
arrested and transported to the Santa Monica Jail. Vasquez was booked
for attempted murder, and his bail was set at $500,000.
