Parking Made Easy By Lookout Staff Nov. 20 -- With the official holiday shopping season less than a day away, would be shoppers may be cringing at the idea of driving into a city known for a supposed dearth of parking spaces. But shoppers and other visitors need not fear. Now with a click of a mouse drivers can find parking structures throughout the Santa Monica before they embark on their trip, or, better yet, hop a shuttle. The new interactive and colorful parking Web site is the brainchild of parking coordinator Oscar Delgado. "We have a lot of parking lots and we need to get the info out," Delgado said, adding that his goal was to make the site user-friendly. On the Web page viewers can scroll their mouse over the name of an area and the area will light up on a map dotted with city parking spaces. The Web site also details which parking structures monthly permit holders can use. The site also offers information on where travelers can pick up the Tide and beach shuttles. During the first four weekends in December, the Tide Shuttle will be transformed into the Santa Monica Shopping Shuttle, which will take shoppers from one shopping area to another free of charge. The shuttle will offer rides every 15 minutes across an extended route that will include Santa Monica Place, Third Street Promenade, Montana Avenue and Main Street. The Santa Monica Shopping Shuttle will run between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on the following weekends: Friday, November 30th - Sunday, December 2nd The regular TIDE route serving Ocean Ave. and Main St. will be extended via 4th St. north to the Montana Shopping area. The shuttle will stop at all Big Blue Bus stops along 4th St. and Montana Ave. up to 15th St., and will operate every 15 minutes.
