Robber Flees Macy's with Christmas Cash

During a bold, daylight robbery when shoppers searched for post-holiday bargains and exchanged unwanted gifts, a man held an employee of Macy's in Santa Monica Place at gun point Monday and demanded cash, escaping with an undisclosed amount, police said.

Santa Monica police received a call at 10:46 a.m. Monday, reporting an armed robbery at Santa Monica Place, according to Sgt. Bill Brucker.

The suspect demanded and was given the cash and fled the store, No vehicle possibly connected to the robber was seen and he remains at large, Brucker said.

The victim was not injured, Brucker said.

The robber is described as black, in his 20's, about five feet, six inches tall with a stocky build. He was dressed in a dark shirt and charcoal gray jacket, Brucker said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact police.

The exact location where the robbery occurred inside Macy's was not disclosed.
