Two Weekend Deaths in Santa Monica Parks

Two bodies were found in Santa Monica parks over the weekend - one hanging from a tree near the Palisades bluff, the other in a bathroom stall - police said.

The body of a 33-year-old Caucasian woman was found Saturday afternoon in a bathroom stall at Christine Reed Park, on Lincoln and Wilshire boulevards, the victim of an apparent overdose, said Sgt. Hector Cavazos..

The woman was found by police at around 5:20 p.m. A syringe lay near the body.

"She was not receptive," Cavazos said. "Paramedics were called and pronounced her dead at the scene."

An unidentified man was found the following afternoon in the 800 block of Palisades Park hanging from a tree just west of the railing by the bluffs, Cavazos said.

Police responded to a possible suicide in progress at 1:27 p.m., and notified the coroner's office after arriving at the scene.
