"Go Right Ahead" and "When People Get This Mad" August 16, 2002 Dear Editor, Well, you've really done it this time, haven't you? It seems that just when politics in Santa Monica were predictable and ho-hum, along you came and made an educated guess as to what the outcome of the elections would be! ("Opponents Fail to Capitalize on SMRR Split," August 14) So? What did you base your prognostication on? Your education, political science, journalism course, perhaps your years and years covering Santa Monica politics for "The Outlook?" Maybe it was the thousands of hours you've spent observing this community's meetings, hearings, commissions and the many more thousands of hours contemplating the statements of the literally thousands of conversations you've had with so many of us in your years of service as a journalist? Or, were your remarks based solely on the fact that SMRR (Santa Monicans for Renters' Rights) holds a political lock on this city that can be statistically defended by the mathematics of the elections that you've covered lo-these many years? No, you go right ahead Dear Editor. I would follow your lead on this one because I am willing to bet you know more than me based on your record! Keep up the good work!!! You can't make an omelet if you first don't crack a few egg shells! And besides remember the Hollywood credo, "It doesn't matter what they are saying about you, what matters is that they are using your name and that they spell it correctly!" B. Sudovar August 15, 2002 Dear Editor, Just want to congratulate you on the hate mail in your letters today. "Who died and made you God?" When people get that mad, you know that you are doing your job! (LETTERS: "How Dare You" and "You Go Grrrl!" August 15) Maybe you should inform Chuck that media actually is the most powerful physical medium on Earth, and that he should revere you a bit more? I will keep you both in my prayers that you reach a reverent place of mutual worship of one another. Good job, August 15, 2002 Dear Editor, (Re: "Council to Reform Homeless Food Lines," August 15) Thank goodness, maybe now we will get our city back. Barbara O'Meara |
