October 26, 2018 -- On Halloween evening, the Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) will hold its annual "Spooktacular" event "full of frolicking fun and festivities," PAL officials announced.

The event, which is usually attended by more than 500 youngsters, takes place Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Santa Monica PAL Youth Center, 1401 Olympic Boulevard.

The events offers a safe haven on Halloween night with costumes, trick-or-treat lane, arts and crafts, game booths and a haunted house all courtesy of major donors. Companies and donors sponsor various areas and themes.

“The Spooktacular event continues to grow and has become one of our most popular events," said PAL Director Eula Fritz.

“Our goal is to provide a safe and fun place for kids to be on Halloween," Fritz said. "This is only made possible each year with the support of our donors and sponsors."

“Spooktacular” is open to all youth and their families.

PAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supervised place for hundreds of young people, ages 6 through 17.

PAL provides free academic and cultural programs and a wide variety of recreational activities that teach skills, promotes self-respect and respect for others and help kids reach out to their peers and to adults, PAL officials said.

"Each year hundreds of youth learn to work and play in groups, with individual attention available whenever it is needed," officials said.

The Center is open Monday through Friday from noon 10 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call 310-458-8988 or visit smpal.org.
