February 23, 2018 -- A father whose young daughter’s head was reportedly slammed onto a concrete floor multiple times in an incident last month on 11th Street in Santa Monica has launched an online campaign to raise money to treat extensive injuries.

Rick Wilson created the “gofundme” campaign the day after the January 18th incident involving his 23-year-old daughter, Taylor.

“The police are helping to find the random stranger that did this,” Wilson says in his gofundme page (

“Her jaw was broken in 3 places and many of her teeth are fractured, broken displaced. Her face was slammed onto a concrete garage floor multiple times.”

The site shows detailed pictures of her bloody face and teeth, and of her state of being at this time, frail and 20 pounds thinner because her mouth has been wired shut as part of the dental reconstructive work needed.

Lt. Saul Rodriguez, the Police Department spokesman, confirmed that detectives are investigating the case but said most information is confidential because it was reported as a sexual assault and the victim asked that many details not be revealed.

“Our detectives are trying to clear up what happened,” he said.

The incident occurred at 5:14 a.m. on January 17 on the 900 block of 11th Street, although it began outside of the city’s borders, Rodriguez said.

No other information could be released, he said.

Wilson describes the incident as a “brutal attack.”

Wilson’s gofundme campaign has raised $3,523, of a $20,000 goal sought to help pay medical expenses.

The funds were raised by 75 people in three days, the page says.

Wilson says his daughter “had an 8-hour surgery for her jaw and she will need major dental work next.

“The entire healing process is very painful and will take months and months. Three plates had to be screwed into her jaw to repair the bones. They will remain forever.”

“We have a long road to her recovery and would appreciate your help,” the father, who lives in Santa Monica, said. “The money will be directly spent to cover the medical and dental expenses that are not covered by our insurance.”
