Rosendahl Calls for Support of Green Line

By Lookout Staff

April 12 -- At public meetings April 19 and 22, Council member Rosendahl hopes the public will join in a call for a “green line” on the proposed light rail from Los Angeles to Santa Monica.

Though the second leg of the project from Culver City to Santa Monica is still awaiting funding, Rosendahl said he believes now is the time for the public to act on a line to bypass bumper-to-bumper traffic on Lincoln Boulevard from the beaches of Santa Monica to LAX.

“This is our opportunity to assert our vision for a better airport and for a long overdue system of mass transit in Los Angeles,” Rosendahl said. “Decisions are made by those who show up. Key decisions are being made now, and we need you to help make them.”

Rosendahl said his personal vision is “Green Line, Green Line, Green Line.

“Getting this train line into LAX is essential,” Rosendahl said. “Then the next step is connect it to the South Bay and the Westside through north-south extensions.”

While there will be future meetings on LAX traffic issues, Rosendahl said these early sessions will shape the rest of the process.

“Now is the time for everyone to bring their ideas and suggestions for how to quickly and efficiently bring people to LAX without clogging our streets and crippling our neighborhoods with traffic,” Rosendahl said.

The meetings will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22. Both sessions will be held on the south side of the airport at the Flight Path Learning Center, Imperial Terminal, 6661 West Imperial Highway, Los Angeles.
