Party Noises and Thanks
from JAMS
November 27, 2003
Dear Editor,
I just read Jorge Casuso's piece on the Council's tabling of
the noise ordinance ("Council Tables Noise Ordinance," Nov.
26). Although I did not watch that part of the Council meeting,
I would like to comment.
I live west of Main Street in the beach tract, actually around
the corner from Council member Feinstein. Often on the weekends
I hear loud party noises coming from the Main Street area.
This is especially interesting, because if you go towards Main
Street from my house you will find a parking lot, the community
gardens, a beauty salon in a mini-mall, and an empty lot, none
of which produce noise.
So if I hear loud bar/party noise a block and a half away late
at night from MY house, I can only imagine what Main Street and
Second Street residents hear. I've never complained to anyone
-- just an observation.
Wishing to find the party but glad that the Oar House is gone,
I remain

Dear Editor:
How fortunate we are at John Adams Middle School to be part
of the Santa
Monica community! It is important to remember the support of
our community
and thank all of you who have helped to make the start of this
school year so
dynamic and energizing.
It is hard to imagine what this school year would be like for
our children and educators without the support of voters, who
cast their ballots for education, and the leadership of our City
Council members, who demonstrated by action that they share the
core values and priorities of this community.
We are able to provide outstanding educational programs due
to the talents of
our entire staff. Thanks to the support of this community highly
skilled,
dedicated teachers and staff were able to return to JAMS where
our focus is
high academic achievement for all students. All staff members
work hard to
provide a personalized, vigorous educational experience for our
students.
The entire JAMS community -- exceptional students, dedicated
staff and
supportive families -- collaborate to make JAMS an outstanding
middle
school. On behalf of the students, families, teachers and staff
at JAMS, we
extend a grateful "thank you" to the community for
its support of our school.
Sincerely,
Lise Reilly
